Smoke and Mirrors

Turn the TV off. When I was younger, TV had about six channels and it went off at midnight. Now there are over one hundred channels and it's on for 24 hours a day. They used to call it the idiot box. It's still the idiot box. Everything that comes out of that square box is meant to brainwash, program and shape public opinion to a specific viewpoint.

Take a look at the recent headlines. The Russian Collusion, Stormy Daniels, North Korea, and a Caravan of Immigrants Heading to the border from Nicaragua to name a few. All of these things have nothing to do with our daily living. The United States is twenty trillion dollars in debt and climbing. Who's going to pay for that? Nobody is talking about it.

Flint Michigan still has no adequate drinking water. It was deliberately poisoned by Public Officials. Children are being born with birth defects because of the consumption of lead filled water. No one has been indicted, prosecuted or gone to jail because of this. That's not the real outrage. The real outrage is that they are passing  massive budgets for military and all other types of nonsense but no one has passed a budget to fix the water issue in Michigan. Do you know why? Because it's not on the idiot box, so no one gives a crap.

This country is so blinded by racism, homophobia, genderism, and just plain old people not minding their darn business that they can't see what's going on right under their noses. Our freedoms are gone. They say we have freedom of speech but disagree with Public Opinion and see how that works out for you. It seems you can't have freedom of speech unless it's in your own household.

As long as we keep idolizing the idiot box and binging hours at a time on useless sitcoms and soap operas, we're always going to be behind the eight ball. God forbid people pick up a book and read it. God forbid you take that video game, throw it out the window and have your child read a book instead.

All of these "so called" humanitarian liberals talking about open borders and allowing people to come into America to live the American dream on the tax payers bill, fail to mention or advocate for the over 500,000 homeless people living in the United States. Some of them are even Veterans. You know why? Because they're not on the idiot box.

I don't have a problem with immigration. I don't have a problem with people wanting to waste their lives looking at the idiot box all day. What I do have a problem with is people being so closed minded and forgetting about their own. How can you help people from other countries if you can't help the people in your own country? Until we solve the mental health crisis, the homelessness, the poverty, the joblessness and the opioid epidemic here in America, we don't have time to be concerned about other people in other countries. That is only adding to our problems. So everything you see on that idiot box is nothing but Smoke and Mirrors.
