I Never Really Loved You, But I Tried.
I always loved her, and still love her. And you’re right again. I never really loved you, but I tried.
The destruction of a relationship is a slow and agonizing process. Chris Rock famously said "If broke up after five years, you've been breaking up for two and a half years." It's a miserable process, but both parties know what's happening. Their just afraid to take the first step. Then it starts to get ugly over time.
You start to notice everything that ever bothered you during the relationship more intensely. You keep a record of every wrong they have ever done to you. Then that day finally comes when you muster up the courage to say "This is it! I'm done!" Then the receiver of this information now wants closure and asks the fatal question "Why?" That's when everything comes out like a Tsunami.
No feelings are spared. The words come out like a razor blade intended to inflict the maximum emotional devastation as possible. All of those years you were breaking up, you were building up your verbal arsenal. The person you once cohabitated with is now your enemy. In a nutshell, when you stop loving or liking somebody, get the fuck out before the shit gets ugly.
Is your shit getting ugly?
