The "Me Too" Bandwagon
I'm not saying it's not true. I'm not saying that there's not a lot of low life men out there that get sexual gratification by taking advantage of vulnerable women. But now it seems like it's getting ridiculous. It's seems like every woman with an ax to grind can say a man made a pass at her twenty years ago and all of a sudden his name is ruined.
Whatever happened to due process? Let's switch it up a little bit. Has there ever been a situation where men can say it's a "Me Too" situation? Has there been no powerful woman that has taken advantage of a young, naïve man or a young man looking to advance his career?
What's the difference between making a pass and sexual harassment? In the old days, if a man was interested in a woman and he made a remark that stepped over the line, she slapped him in the face. That was the sign that she wasn't interested. With the environment today, you can't even say "Boo" to a female without a claim of sexual harassment.
It's true that woman have been taken advantage of on the job and casting couches but a lot of women have perpetuated sexuality to attract such a response. For all women that say "Me Too" there are a lot of women that opened the door and paved the way for that attitude towards you. Women know better than men that there are women out there that exploit their sexuality by dressing provocatively, and speaking provocatively to attract such attention. They know this better than men because they are more critical of women than men are.
Way before the "Me Too" movement, certain women have been known to sleep their way to the top. That's not a phrase originated by men. Men are simple creatures. Feed them, have sex with them and give them some eye candy. Women know this and have used it to their advantage for centuries. Why aren't the "Me Too" women coming down on women like that who created the atmosphere for women to be objectified?
Just look at television, movies, and magazines that objectify women every single day. For every "Me Too" victim that was propositioned by the casting couch there were ten woman that were willing to engage in sexual activity, without prompting, in order to advance their careers. This is not to take the blame off men, but if there are women that are willing, then they give a false representation of all women.
If we want to have a real discussion about the "Me Too" movement and sexual harassment, we need to be real about the cause and effect. Men are weak, in general, when it comes to sex. A beautiful woman can bring down a Kingdom, much less a feeble man. Once you get society to stop objectifying women, then we can start a new dialogue. As long as you have pornography, and women like Cardi B. and Nicki Minaj running around, there's always going to be room on The "Me Too" Bandwagon.
